Existing college magazine evaluation

This college magazine that I have chosen is a clear example of how most of the magazine covers are. This particular magazine uses mainly 3 colours black, yellow and white. All the main features of the magazine including the name are made to stand out in a bright colour to try and grab your attention. Incorporating this with a black background clearly makes the headlines stand out from the magazine. Having sub headings in white seconds them out from the main headlines as secondary.
The main picture of the front cover is a student which features him carrying some books which would relate to a student. It is important that the picture has some relevance otherwise it would be not meeting the target audience. This is vital to ensure that people would read the magazine, the picture has to be attractive and not boring otherwise the magazine would not attract readers.
The headlines of the magazine are spread across a wide range of categories in which students would want to read about. This is another point which makes a great magazine as it does not attract only one type of student. The headlines are about making money, mobile phones and adrenaline activities. The feature that stands out the most on the front cover is the paintball splat. This particularly grabs the attention of the reader as it set in a bright pink colour and has the effect of a paintball that has burst. However this still contains the main colour of yellow which makes it stand out from others.
