From constructing a questionnaire i discovered that 95% of my target audience don’t read the college magazine and some have never heard of the college magazine. 75% of people said that they wouldn’t buy the college magazine but to try and entice them they need to see something they want. To get funding for the magazine we could advertise to our target audience from things specific to them and what they do. From the questionnaire people say that they would like to see included in the magazine the most was upcoming events. To attract people to the magazine we will need to include these events and also they would like to see personal messages/shout outs and competitions. The audience most disliked the idea of college history as this doesn’t really meet the target audience’s needs. There is a balance of 50/50 to include news bulletins in the magazine this will be an inclusion as a last page.
Asking the students what would attract them to buy the college magazine gave great feedback as i can include these in my design. They said that the front cover of the magazine would need to grab their attention. To do this i would also need to include interesting pictures and make it as exciting and colourful as possible in order for it to attract the students to it. Based on publishing for my college magazine i asked them how many times you would want to see the college magazine published. From my findings i found that 50% would want to see it monthly. To give students a say in what goes into the magazine i asked them what they would most like to see in the magazine. The most popular choices were upcoming gigs and cinema so i have decided to add a page for each of these. Secondly they would like to see fashion, gossip and facebook news everything a teenager is into. Finally they want a sports page to interest all the boys and girls with an attraction to sport.
