I have chosen a generic position for my master head which is across the top of the page. This is accompanied by a dateline which is a generic convention of most magazines. The dateline is usually very discrete so that it doesn’t detract from the more important items of the cover. The selling line “Number 1 for business” creates a brand identity for the magazine. The cover lines that are on the front cover have been placed in the top right hand corner and down the left hand side of the magazine. This is a very generic layout as it allows the cover lines to be seen clearly when displayed in shops. The main artists of my magazine are set down the right hand side which are integrated into my main picture. This challenges certain conventions as usually the text is overlapping the images whereas mine fits into the image. The main image of the article has a special feature which is made to draw the reader in. This is a generic convention of magazines as they all have a main image which is a feature of the magazine. Music magazines tend to have a varied variety of different shots featured on each of their main covers every issue, so I decided that I would choose to have a mid-shot. Barcodes are usually in the corner so they are very discrete and not the main focus to the eye. Banners at the top and bottom of the cover are not featured on many magazines which challenges the conventions. Using only a small amount of fonts is sticking to the magazines conventions, this also applies to the amount of colours that have been used.
